Creating Dynamic Website Images

There are many things that can separate a mediocre website from a dynamic one, but the one being discussed today are your images.

A website's images are like a window to your business’s soul. It’s not only a reflection of who you are as an owner, but the things your business represents. It’s important that the images a customer sees not only represent your business well, but entice the customer to keep coming back for more.

We at Dope Magic believe that a good online presence is a pillar of modern day business and images are a large part of that. Here are 3 of our best tips for making your website stand out from the crowd with stellar looking images.

Revamp your homepage

Most of your website could run on iPhone or Samsung quality images, but your homepage should have some sort of professional photos. These could be paid or free stock photos, or photos you’ve taken at a shoot, but they should be high quality images.

As one of the first things a customer sees when they visit your site, your homepage acts like your hook. It’s the first (and sometimes only) impression a potential customer has to your brand. It’s important to “wow” them with your professionalism and vision for the brand.

We strongly encourage you to hire a local photographer to shoot some high quality images, but if you can’t afford it, stock images are a great option too.

Be consistent with your images

All of the images on your website should tie themselves together. As a customer clicks through your site, they should be seeing consistency in colors and edits in your images. Images are there to support your business, not create confusion.

If your brands colors are red and orange, then it’s best practice to have some of those colors embedded with your images as well. It’s an unconscious reminder to the customer about who you are and will help them remember you in the future.

Apps like Lightroom, Photoshop, and TouchRetouch can help significantly enhance your images in a subtle and elevated way. These apps are great for making sure that all your images have a slightly consistent look about them, even if they are of very different things.

Watch your image size

Y’all there is nothing more frustrating than visiting a website whose images don’t load. It doesn’t matter how beautiful your images are or that you’ve used a professional photographer and camera, if your images are slow loaders, customers are more likely to click out then wait for your page to load.

Resizing high quality images can be a game changer for your website retention. Remember that images are generally there to support your business.

Websites like Be Funky and I love IMG are great resources for resizing images. Photoshop is also a common tool for resizing as well as editing.

We get that running your website can be a bit overwhelming, but we want to help take the pressure off.
